Key boxes help to protect your property. During an emergency, a building key gives fire departments immediate entry without damage. This also means doors can be re-locked after the emergency is over. It is impractical for the fire department to carry keys for each building in town. The Norwich Fire Department uses the Knox-Box Rapid Entry System, which provides a variety of proven protection methods for both commercial and residential property – including systems allowing access through property gates. These boxes, mounted near an outside entrance, can hold building keys, electronic access cards and vital emergency information. We access the boxes with a master key that is kept securely on responding apparatus.
The Knox Company has been providing these boxes for more than 25 years, and more than 7,000 fire departments use them. We do not profit from their sale. If you have any questions or would like to know more, please contact the Norwich Fire Chief, Alex Northern, at 649-1133 or email@example.com.
